Real EHR integration on your terms and timeline.

Many companies throw around the term “EHR integrated” like it’s just a switch you turn on and magic happens.

Our team of clinical informaticists knows better and has done the hard work to make sure that EHR integration with Curbside is the simplest, most robust experience your IS department can have (under two months with minimal client resources).

  • SMART on FHIR (STU3, R4)

  • Epic AppOrchard, Cerner, Allscripts, and more

  • Pull: 30+ patient FHIR resources

  • Push: Orders (dynamically served), clinical documentation, flowsheet rows

  • Provider Launch: BPA, CDS Hooks, Track-board, Lab result & more

FAQ

  • What exactly do you mean by "EHR integration"?

Curbside EHR facing integration is a standard SMART on FHIR app that can be deployed in any major EHR. It is a provider facing application which after OAuth2 EHR authentication pulls several FHIR resources to populate clinical logic within the app. It can also pus through web messaging unsigend orders back into the EHR shopping cart, flowsheet data back into the medical record and ClinDoc text into the medical decision making portion of a note.

5 years ago, this process would have been impossible, but now with strait-forward bi-directional APIs it can occur with a fraction of the time and effort. We work with the client’s IS team in a systematic implementation process and fully supported by our client services and engineering team.

  • How is authentication handeled?

Access to the Curbside application is controlled through the EHR authorization and authentication scheme already present in your EHR. You control access of the Curbside activity to individual users, types of users (eg physicians) or groups of users (eg Emergency Medicine residents).

This model assures that your usual controls for user management stay intact and that there are no additional resource requirements to ensure the security of the application.

  • You push orders? Is that really true? How?

Yes, Curbside is only of the only apps in the world that sends unsigned orders directly from the clinical logic of our app to the EHR “shopping cart” Once there, the user simply signs the order as they typically would. All existing CDS (dose checking, allergy checking, etc.) still fires as previously set up.

For further details on how we do this (there is a lot of work behind the scenes, but the integration is surprisingly strait-forward), please contact us and we’re happy to walk you through the technology.

  • What are your security details?

The security, governance and integrity of our systems is our first priority. Curbside is SOC2 + HiPAA specific certified through 3rd party verification. We have been through many health care systems technical reviews and are happy to share further details of our internal and external controls.

  • What is the timeline and resource lift for full EHR integration?

End to end integration with Curbside takes about 2 months. Client systems typically test for another 2-4 weeks after prior to going live in production. During this time we have weekly meetings with our integration team (which may also include EHR TS support) who will hold your hand each step of the way.

Curbside being a SMART on FHIR goes through the typical process that any of your other apps have been through utilizing the same institutional knowledge you’ve created in the past.

  • How hard is this really?

As board certified informatisists, we know “EHR integration” is a loaded term. In truth, with the advent of standard EHR app stores like Epic’s and Cerner’s, integrating with Curbside can be predicted and planned for with high accuracy. We could promise even quicker timelines given the standard nature of SMART on FHIR deployments, but we take a highly deliberate process to ensure both the safety and fidelity of the system relationship.

Feel free to reach out as we can quickly explain each step of the process.
