Pathway User guide

Overview

This document is for users who are new to or want a refresher on the features of Curbside Health pathways. An important feature of Curbside pathways are the additional layers that support and enhance the nodes that are the pathway building blocks. The attachments may include more detailed explanatory text and images, links to published articles, videos, and, with our optional EHR integration, order support directly from the pathway.

This document assumes the user is already able to login and describes features available online and in our iOS mobile application.

Searching For Pathways

  1. Use the search, filter and sorting options to find the pathway you want to view, click the pathway icon () to filter for library for pathways

  2. Click on the pathway name to open

Viewing A Pathway

Above is the pathway display. The pathway is the primary focus of the screen but below we provide an overview of other display features that are available.

Pathway

The pathway is built using nodes and connectors. In addition there may be evidence, notes, videos, or other supporting information that is layered on the pathway nodes or not directly connected to the workflow. These are used to enhance clinical understanding or provide supporting videos, links, or other information and may be positioned, color coded, or formatted in a way to align it with a node that is on the connected workflow. You can use standard zoom features to change your view, or click and drag the pathway to focus your view.

Node Attachments

This section documents the clinical attachments that can be added to enhance nodes and expand clinical detail to drive improved understanding. Our example node below shows where each of the attachments is displayed:

  • Evidence (): Click the evidence icon to display additional clinical context included by the pathway authors, which may include more detailed information, tables, or links to published articles

  • Organisms (): Indicates an institution specific organism has been attached to this process step, details visible by clicking on the icon

  • Calculators (): Click the calculator to open a right hand pane to enter the calculate parameters, return a score and optionally some additional context and/or recommendations based on the calculated score

  • Orders (): List of recommended or common orders, with optional integration can link directly to your EHR orders cart

  • Curbside Content (): Link to additional clinical content, such as a different pathway or protocol, maintained in Curbside Health

  • Video: Click to view a supporting video

Header

The header provides summary information about the pathway, including:

  • Institution Name

  • Public () or Private () Indicator: When publishing a pathway, users can designate the pathway as public or private. A public pathway is visible to users in your institution and is available to other institutions via the Curbside Community. Private pathways are not visible to users outside your institution.

  • Current Version

  • Revision Due () or Unpublished: Displays the revision timing set during the publishing process, or displays unpublished. Hover over the calendar icon to view the exact date set during the publishing process. If this icon is red the review date is past or required in the next two weeks.

  • Last Published Timing

  • Last Edited By

Moving across to the right side of the Header:

  • Owners List ( ): This provides access to the list of pathway owners. A few owner profile pictures or initials are displayed and the rest of the owner list is visible by clicking on the plus sign “+” with a number to show a full list.  The number after the plus sign indicates how many additional owners there are.

Right Hand Menu

The right hand menu can be expanded using the toggle () or by clicking on either of the icons below.

  • Details (): Provides summary information about the pathway, including publish overview, authors, version, and citation

  • Feedback (): Allows a user to score the clinical pathway and provide text feedback to the content owners

Footer

The footer includes links to other content and options to modify your pathway display, again moving from left to right across the bottom of the screen.

  • Curbside Content links & Attachments (): A tab for each link to additional Curbside Health content, like protocols or other pathways, or other content like PDFs and Powerpoint presentations attached to this pathway. If no additional Curbside content is linked, this section will be empty.

  • Animation (): Animates the building of your final pathway from top to bottom

  • Node ID Enable / Disable (): Displays or hides the node ID under each shape

  • Zoom to Starting Node (): Resets your display to the first pathway node

  • Zoom to Fit (): Click this button to automatically set the zoom so the entire pathway is displayed

  • Mini Map (): A small map of your pathway with a highlighted window that you can drag to change what part of your pathway is displayed on your screen

  • Zoom In/Out (): Allows the user to resize the pathway using a slider or a dropdown menu

  • Full Screen (): Opens the pathway in full screen mode

Setting Your Pathway Pan Or Scroll Functionality

When viewing published pathways, users have the ability to set whether Curbside will pan or scroll the pathway when they scroll with their mouse or mousepad. Administrators have access to set the default for your institution, but this allows you to change how you interact with published pathways.

  • Click the down arrow next to your institution and above your name in the upper left

  • Click Account Settings

  • Stay in the My Account section and scroll down to the bottom of the screen

  • Click the Pan option to zoom in and the Scroll option to move the pathway up and down
